I have searched the internet for a variety of online guitar lessons to cover most styles and have read many reviews of these courses on other guitar lesson review sites, including so called 'Top 10 Guitar Lessons' reviews.
I have done this so that I may compare guitar lessons and present to you the general consensus for thebest guitar lessons currently available. I will also write in-depth, honest and unbiased reviews of these tutorials, when I have had the opportunity to test drive each of them thoroughly. There are literally hundreds of online guitar courses out there. Some are fantastic and some are not. I have listed a few of the more popular ones below. There are many more great guitar tutorials on the internet if you look for them.
TIP - The average cost of private guitar tuition in the UK is around £20 - £25 an hour. I would imagine it's pretty much the same in the United States and would be somewhere in the region of $35 - $50 an hour? Many of the guitar tutorials reviewed below cost less than a one hour private guitar lesson and almost all are less than you would pay for two private guitar lessons. The guitar courses that charge more than that are likely to be ongoing, extensive and detailed, so may in fact represent better value for money long term.
My advice is to look at them all if you can and sign up for all of the guitar courses you can afford, that cover the style/s you are interested in. It will cost you much less than taking regular private guitar lessons for just one hour a week and you will have access to the material whenever you want it, so you can progress at your own pace.
Some guitar tutorials make outrageous claims, like learn to play like Eddie Van Halen in a week etc. Anyone with any intelligence will know that isn't going to happen. Like all great guitar players, Eddie probably locked himself in his bedroom night after night as a kid and practiced hour after hour. To get to be that good takes years and there is no quick fix. You've heard it before and here it is again. "You get out of something, what you put into it." It will take many hours of practice to become a competant guitarist regardless of which course you sign up to.
However, each series of guitar tutorials will have it's own merits and teach you something different. Some may have both good and bad points. In my view, the more guitar tutorial methods you have access to, the more you will learn, the broader your repertoire will become and you will have a much better chance of becoming one with your instrument. There's something here for everyone. Beginners guitar tutorials, intermediate guitar lessons and even advanced guitar instruction. It's all covered here.
Remember, guitar solo doesn't necessarily mean solo guitar, even the best players out there probably needed help and guidance when they first started up.

Infinite Guitar Review
InfiniteGuitar.com is one of the best I have personally tested so far. The site is well thought out and most lessons are presented in a user friendly, coherent and logical fashion. I just love the clean, simple, easy to spot what you're looking for layout.
Let's begin with the State Of The Art Lesson Search Interface. The interface is designed to help you find exactly what you're looking for, and fast. With category selections such as Lesson Type, Media, Difficulty, Topic, Style, and Instructors, you can instantly find the guitar lessons you want.
There are more than1,800 lessons covering just about every style and subject guitarists of all levels could possibly be interested in. Many of the lessons are accompanied by a downloadable backing track, enabling you to practice in a fun and effective way. Also, all of the guitar lessons on Infinite Guitar are accompanied by tablature that is both detailed and highly comprehensive. For those who would rather learn using traditional notation instead of tablature, Intimate Guitar provide notation as well.
No need to be stuck behind a desktop computer to enjoy Infinite Guitar's lessons. Take it mobile! Whatever your device, you'll have easy access to all of their guitar lessons and you won't even have to download an app. Just go directly to the site and enjoy.
For those who wish to study in earnest, they should of course be methodical if they are dedicated to learning the guitar properly. With this aim in mind Infinite Guitar have created three lesson plans: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. These plans are designed to guide you through the material in a way that is both practical and effective, to help you retain what you learn and ultimately aid you in becoming a better, well rounded guitarist. Once you have digested that lot, you are ready to study the 'Crazy' category. Don't forget to 'Buckle Up' first!
Infinite Guitar has a vibrant community with almost 7,000 members. There are currently 15 professional, highly skilled guitar tutors from all over the world, covering Rock, Fusion , Metal, Jazz, Acoustic, Funk, Classical, Blues, Technique, Chords, Cool Riffs, Theory, Exercises, Improvising, Recording, Rhythm and Scales. In fact, several of the instructors at Infinite Guitar are among the best teachers of the guitar I've seen online.

"This is really the first time I have ever been excited about learning guitar! What I really like are the practice lessons. With Learn & Master Guitar, I can see myself taking little steps and have the satisfaction that I am truly learning something.

Jamorama is aimed at the beginner and geared around learning to play your favourite songs rather than focusing on theory, advanced chord progressions, arpeggios and scale excercises etc. For this reason it is probably more suited to the casual player and having fun as you learn. This is probably the best way to learn in the early stages as having fun is what it's all about. Seriously committed students would feel more at home with another more advanced course.
Jamorama has a choice of three available packages, standard, deluxe and hardcopy.
Tip - Sign up for the introductory free lessons if you enjoy it and want to continue, you can then purchase one of the three premium packages.

The other tutorials are labelled as intermediate or advanced. There is also a 1 to 5 guitar difficulty rating for each tutorial, You can search for lessons by style or by tutor. Dear fellow guitar fanatic, Before we go any further, let me say that what you're about to learn about is definitely NOT suitable for everyone. And because I don't want to waste your time, could you please ask yourself three quick questions...
Can I improvise solos with the level of fluidity, skill and musicality that I truly want?
Can I see all the scales that I want to know over the entire fretboard...without having to think?
Do I currently use an organised, effective and proven system for learning scales?
If you answered "Yes" to all three questions...then you DON'T need to read any further.
Still with me? Yes? Great! Please read the rest of this page carefully. It's quite long, but it is important that you read every word. That way you'll understand exactly what you stand to gain....
