Recommended Listening - Modern Classic

I think I will kick this section off with an amazing guitarist who needs no introduction.. The King of Neo-Classical fret friction burns himself and if by any chance I do have to introduce him to you, then you'd best go find another section because this one is going to be way too scary for you. This brings me nicely to a point I would like to make. Throwing together finger twisting, mind boggling, trillion miles an hour, never ending licks, is as you must realise extremely self indulgent and totally pointless.... Unless you hit just the right note at just the right time, bend the crap out of it and make it bite & squeal. Awoooo!!!. that's what I'm talkin' bout.

The unbelievable technique of all of these modern guitarists is simply staggering. Yngwie Malmsteen and another two favourites of mine, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are difficult to categorise, as they definately don't fall into the classic rock genre and yet have been around way too long to be considered contemporary.

I have included them at the top of this page, because I believe they have had the greatest influence of all on contemporary guitarists and the way they approach the instrument today.
